Workshops are spaces for learning, exchange, and creativity that provide tools to improve quality of life, communication, and social participation. They promote coexistence among participants, respect for diversity, and the development of social and emotional skills. Additionally, they encourage artistic expression and environmental awareness through eco-art, a modality that involves creating artworks with recycled or natural materials.
These workshops offer benefits to both the environment and people. On one hand, they help reduce resource consumption, recycle and reuse waste, and value nature as a source of inspiration and beauty. On the other hand, they are very important for older adults, as they offer them the opportunity to learn, share, have fun, and feel part of a community.
Workshops given:
How to make a Tlanchana using the cartonería technique.
We worked with the Mártires del Río Blanco Middle School and the Agustín Yáñez Telesecondary School, where we conducted a cartonería workshop. Cartonería is a popular tradition in Mexico, where figures of animals, alebrijes, people, objects, and cultural symbols are made.
During the workshop, we explored themes such as the difference between a mermaid and a Tlanchana, and we practiced the art of cartonería to create a three-dimensional sculpture. We used recycled materials like sheets of paper, magazines, newspapers, and paste. As a result, we created a Cartonería Tlanchana that is currently on display at the Community Cultural House and served as a reference for the creation of the container located at the lagoon.
Fostering creativity and artistic expression in children through drawing and painting.
We foster creativity and artistic expression in children through drawing and painting. During the class, the children explored different drawing and painting techniques, experimenting with colors and shapes. They were provided with tools and techniques to express their ideas and emotions visually. They were also encouraged to develop their own unique artistic style. We introduced new activities and challenges to stimulate their imagination and artistic skills. The children had fun while learning and developing their creativity in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Exploring musical composition and the creative process.
The students at the Telesecondary school immersed themselves in the fascinating world of musical composition, unleashing their creativity as they explored the fundamentals of music theory up to the depths of creative expression. During this process, they acquired the ability to understand and apply key concepts such as harmony, melody, rhythm, and musical structure. Through the exploration of various genres and styles, they broadened their understanding and appreciation of music, thus developing fundamental skills for their artistic and personal development.
Discover the Art of Photography: Workshop for Beginners.
In this workshop, we guided Telesecondary school students through the fundamentals of photography, from understanding how their camera worked to mastering composition techniques. They learned to make the most of their photographic equipment, whether it was a digital SLR camera or even their phone.
We taught the basics of exposure, focus, and composition, and helped them develop a critical eye for photography. From portraits to landscapes, from street photography to nature, we explored a variety of styles and genres so they could find their own style.

During the sessions, we lively discussed the rainy season and reminisced about experiences from their youth. We organized a Mexican afternoon full of traditions and shared a special Day of the Dead session, where we explored legends and customs. Additionally, we offered a basic course on social media and cell phone use to stay connected. We enjoyed a movie session and provided emotional support. Finally, we explored the traditions of Posadas, Three Kings Day, and Christmas.
