QUILOTZIN FESTIVAL

SOCIAL ART

The Quilotzin Festival is a celebration of heritage, creativity, and community.

Rooted in San Miguel Almaya, State of Mexico, this cultural festival unites urban art, dance, music, film, and ancestral traditions within a space that amplifies community voices and fosters intergenerational dialogue.

This place and its people are the heart of the festival: a reminder that art is not only observed, but lived, shared, and built together with those who inhabit it

Art, tradition, and community: Quilotzin celebrates what makes us unique

A forgotten place comes to life

Quilotzin

The festival is a way to live in and transform the territory
Each edition demonstrates how art can transform community life

The former illegal dump site of San Miguel Almaya was restored by the Cantos de Almaya collective.
and turned into the Sculptural Corridor—a space where memory
and creativity give new life to the environment
Today, it serves as a festival venue and a living example of how
collective creation drives change

THE THEME OF THE 2025 EDITION
Altépetl: community, land, and art

Altépetl is a Nahuatl concept that means community and territory

At Quilotzin, it guides the festival’s vision, connecting art, landscape, and collective memory to transform spaces, inspire encounters, and celebrate our roots

This theme was chosen because it reflects the deep relationship of communities with their environment, history, and forms of organization, and invites us to explore how art can strengthen these bonds and bring new life to the places we inhabit.
